The track for Vibes was created from a sample loop from an Izotope beta program called Trackstarter. And it was funky. My songs start out as 16 or 32 bar beat loops with multiple tracks that I use to build arrangements. If I think the beat warrants a song, I just sing along with the loop until something pops into my head. At first I was saying, “Time!” but after working through some lyrics, it worked better as “Vibes.” That made it very easy to write the rest of the song because I am super sensitive (and allergic) to negative energy. I don’t always understand why people do what they do, but if they continuously bring bad “ju-ju” or feelings around me or others, I’m not going to be around them if I can help it.
